Got my car back from svo and am pleased with the performance gains. But the oil pressure is rather low atm and when i rev above 3200rpm in D, there is a ticking sound- roller rockers maybe? I don't think im getting enough oil pressure when doing this maybe... What can I do?

Oil pressure should increase a fair bit with those kind of RPM...

Did they put some ungodly thin synthetic in it? Does your dash have a gauge? Oil level OK?

Ideally i'd say hook up a mechanical gauge and tell me what the readings are.... but that's going too far, lol.

So they put rollers in there? I wouldnt have thought they'd be noisy... The low oil pressure ticking is usually the hydraulic lifters....

ive got oil pressure gauge as its a fairmont. needle is at 2nd lowest point b4 orange which is lowest - 1. Atm it has Penrite HPR 15 - semi sythetic.
SAE 15W-60. What oil u recommend with the mods now? Will changing the oil and maybe smaller oil filter increase the pressure and stop the ticking over 3200rpm? thanks

If it's only under load then that may well be the case. Shouldnt be any pinging if revving in nuetral...

Any smoke from the exhaust when this sound comes in?

If its pinging then i suggest you get it sorted ASAP as you'll damage the motor... bad.

That oil should be fine.

tried reving it in N & P and there was no sound or smoke. Only when in D after 3000rpm. so think its pinging so will get the timing fixed friday. also put some fuel cleaner in, cleaned the MAF and connector. Any other tips than using 98octane fuel?

ive heard around about something hitting the valve covers as they aren't tall enough or something? the standard e7 rocker covers are on the gt40p heads. also how do u know its pinging, as i said it only makes noise in D after 3200rpm, not in P or N revving it.
Also what is best oil for mine? Synthetic, semi synthetic?
thanks
