In an EF GHIA 5.0, when you accelerate should the oil pressure gauge go up , and then settle on the last line before the 7 whilst cruising on 100km'h?

At idle it reads at around half the gauge, as soon as you give throttle it steadily moves up?

I am assuming this is not to be treated as the "coolant temp gauge" is it dangerous as it approaches 7?

Please excuse my ignorance!

yes is fine :)

u dont want it dropping

then again too much oil pressure can be bad

but i doubt it would happen in your car

Mine goes up whilst cranking and stays up until I turn the motor off. Maybe my sender unit is bung?

Yeah mine was doing that.
New sender and it still didn't read right compared to my aftermarket gauge.

As the oil temp rises the pressure will drop dont worry until it drops off the btm of the gauge
