My oil pressure gauge can play up sometimes. It will go straight to the top of the gauge other times it reads as normal?? So when i turn the ignition on (motor not running) it reads full, is this the sender or the gauge?

I had a similar problem with my XR6, and I replaced the gauge and it fixed the problem. That's not to say it's not the sender. I had a second hand dash so it was an easy ifx.

On the I6 the sender is very dificult to get out, don't know about a V8.

It could be as simple as the wire being loose on the sender. If you disconnect the wire the gauge will read very high, the nature of the beast.

Mine did this occasionally so I replace the plug at the sender and has been alright since.

now that i think of it my oil pressure gauge / sender is playing up so i will post it here rather than on a new thread....the gauge goes straight up to high when the ignition is turned on and just stays there...(and the car isnt running) so clearly there should be no oil pressure....anyone got any solutions.....

Mines the same but for some stupid reason it starts working when the car is in 'normal' mode (auto) and i give a bit... Very strange. Every time i want it to work i just give it a boot full :)

Hey, mine does it too! Think it's the gauge but (dammit) as with the car off, the gauge is off the dial.
Every now and then it dips down (still high) while driving...
