Just wanted to post a line on an oddball setup I have and see the feedback as this site is dedicated to it, I have an XC sedan with a 351 clevo and a cable kickdown AOD overdrive auto running a 600 vac holley. Ive aready obtained the correct Holley kickdown bracket as its got an adjustable cable. Ive had the converter modded(IE layed the vanes over and ended up with a more stall of about 2200 rpm with a stock 302) AU XR6 3.45 diff gears in a 26 spline LSDrear. The engine runs old school TRW kicker pistons and 2V open chamber aussie heads with a final comp of 10.2 to 1(approx).I havent finished assembling the combo yet. A camshaft is the next step and I have a few at my disposal. Any feedback is appreciated, and torque gains are the order as the car is a heavy one and getting driveability was the whole reason for the AOD in the first place. 8-)

I don't think he's got a photo of the car mate. I think he was implying that a photo of the car won't help with cam selection/advice :)

Heya Tommo just grab an old 3/4 race cam off Stokesy! :D

Nah in all seriousness I'd look at a Crane H272-2 Powermax or a Comp XE262H. Or on a budget a Blue Racer (Crane) CD214-52.

Let me know if you'd like info on any of them.

Yur biggest mistake is the 600 vac holley same carb was way too small for my old 302 xc go with 650 or 700 dp youl be much happier.

No way I'd run a 700 D/P in this...
If you must change the carb then look at a 750 vac.

But Tommo have a look at the specs of the cams I've listed, also consider a Comp 270H, I've got one of my own brand new if you are interested.

Yes the carby isnt the most but it is very reliable and tuneable, if I can get some decent airspeed with this compression shouldnt it be quite torquey? The gearbox lends itself to it and I`m chasing a good idle as well, the motor thats coming out is too angry and I`m sick of it. It may sound a bit underwhelming but not everyone wants a fat cammy pig like this.

When I had the 650vac on my old xc 302 it went ok, I thought I done the right thing as the engine had mild cam block decked and heads shaved with edelbrock performer inlet. I sold the car and later bought it back only to be very dissapointed. The inet and carb were gone and the motor painted pink (was a black motor from an xd). In place of the carb and inlet was a stock duell plain 4barrel inlet plated to fit a 2 barrel 500 holley that was only good for grand pa. I rebuilt an old 780 thermoquad that was laying in the shed and the car instantly had more balls than even the guy who built the motor could belive possible. Cleavos really do like to breath easy and will reward you well for letting this happen

Wern't the predator carbs 900cfm or bigger. I built my car in 87 so the injection was new and very expensive and not sure the predator was out at the time.

Seems the 600 is at the bottom of the pile... cheers for the feedback, I`ll try to get hold of a different carb for this thing.
