hi guys, about these p plate rules on performance vehicles, can anyone tell me exactly the regulations on this whether you only have to hold a licence before the rule or having to own a performance car before the rule.because if the rule regulates having to own a performance car before the rule then im stuffed because i only own a 6 cylinder XF falcon and am on red Ps.

as to my understanding,, after the date july xx (maybe the 12th?) you cannot buy a performance car ie a v8,, if you have one registered in your name before that date then you are ok... so hurry mate.. lol

i think if you already have your licence you will be fine, but if you lose your licence and don't get a new one until after the changeing date then you will fall into the new rules.

Speaking about P plater rules, got done for speeding (this is in vic) now iv lost 3 demirit points, pretty sure i only had 5 to begin with as im a P plater, how often to P plater points come back? i know full licence get them every 3 years, and im under the impression that P platers have less which is 5 but get them back sooner like each year or whatever, is this true? and i know the answer is, dont speed, and i wont be, and i wasnt intentially speeding in the first place, the bastard was sitting on the exit of the freeway, 100km to 60km within 50 meters, what do you expect?

I agree with Mr Ed.

I have an xr8 on green P's and from everyone I've talked to, as long as you hold a Provisional license before July 11th your ok.

Im sure it only applies to people who obtain their license after the regualtions come in luckily.

A guy I was talking to said it didnt matter when the car was purchased etc as even new platers who fall subject to this law can still register a performance car in their names, they just cant legally drive it on the road.

In NSW you dont get the points back for 3 years.. doesnt matter whether youre on P's or full licence. I'd assume its the same there.

Apparently.

What happens if you use a Ryco oil filter instead of the OEM one? :)

I also have a V8 in NSW. The RTA site itself states that if you are a current holder of a Provisional licence then the rules will not affect you. Only newly registered drivers after the 11th of July. However we are to be charged $28.

There are always ways around things but. I.e. If the car is under the business name, or the car is the only one in the 'family' etc. Works out for me many ways..

Yeh thats right.
In Victoria.

Full licence: 12 Demerit points for 3 years

P's: 12 Demerit points for 3 years, but no more than 5 for any 12 month period. If that make sense! :? :D
