Just as I was getting back to work in the Au XR8 when i downshifted it stalled.
When i re-started it ran like an absolute dog and could barely be driven.

Any ideas? Stuck at work now and i dont have NRMA roadservice.

Just make sure the MAF to TB pipe hasn't come loose or the MAF plug itself has come off. I guess also check spark plug leads or any of the major electrical connections. Was the downshift at high rpms?

Agreed, check the MAF connector and all the intake plumbin'

How far home? She'll limp without correct MAF but it wont be pleasant.

All that looks ok!

It was just driven normally. Driving along at about 100km/h then it happened.

I had just got half a tank of shell optimax about 20kms before this happened. I always get my fuel from the same station, I called them and they've had no complaints about the fuel and she's doing a fuel test for me now.

Called NRMA to see if I could join up and get someone to come have a look. About $79.00 if I didnt need help today but coz I do It's the $79 + $50 membership fee plus $101 call out fee.

Can a lead just die like that?

No a lead probably wouldn't just go bad all of a sudden, and it would take more than 1 lead to run like crap as well. If you didn't over-rev the engine on the downshift then it sounds like an electrical connector or vacuum pipe has come off somewhere.

I was thinking maybe a vacuum pipe but just cant see anything wrong.
Pulled all the intake system apart and reconnected it all and no difference.

It definately wasnt over revved on the downshift.

Off to the mechanics on the back of the tow truck it looks like.

Im pretty sure the sensor wires in the pic had shorted out after ford "fixed" it up.

Is that the air charge sensor?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Yeh she's fine now.

Ford replaced that after it melted on the exhaust about 4 months ago.

When they did the job, they just shoved the wires into a spade connector and taped them up. For some reason, today they decided to touch eachother.

I'll fix it up properly when I get home.

Thanks again for the help guys.
