is it possible to remove the sump off a eb 302 without removing the engine from the car? Can i just undo the engine mounts and jack the engine up?

i have an eb2 6cyl i had to do sump so i undone engine mounts and jacked it up but no good so i took to mechanic prices varied from $200 to $585 thats to pull motor out or drop front crossmember

yes it can be done. i watched my old boss do it on an ef 5.0ltr limo a few years ago. from memory you have to undo the eng mounts and jack the motor up a litlle bit but once all of the bolts the sum should come out

Remove long pin bolt holding mount to chassis and Jack it up carefully under sump (use flat piece wood so as not to dent sump) as high as you can without breaking anything and chock the engine mounts up with wood. Lower jack and remove. Undo sump and it will drop down but to get off you may have to slide a ring spanner in and undo oil pickup and rotate crank so counter balance weights are horizontal and with the odd adjustment of crank position you will be able to slide the sump out. hope this helps I've done it on hilux and crumpledoor as well this way.
