if you use jump leads connecting the new battery to the leads in the car you can swap the battery without loosing power then you wont have to reset anything

You don't need to do anything with a BA. It will remember all its settings.

Just so you dont do it and then get concerned afterwards..

When the battery was reconnected in my BA fairmont the screen only displayed 'CODE'... I just hit the big power button and it found all my settings again

Ok so if rip out the old battery and put in the new one all should be good. No need for any special tricks.

If you've got the factory alarm, disable it first, buy turning the car to on (don't start it), then remove the battery.

If you don't do that, the alarm will go off as you disconnect the battery.

If you want to change the battery with the siren going off, then sure.

It's actually the Ford procedure.
