Ford's standard answer for parts like this are, 'they're obsolete'. Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket part available here, or in the USA? I haven't found any on eBay, Summit, Rocket, VPW or elsewhere.

Otherwise, has anyone installed braided hoses back to the firewall? The cost of the 2 rubber hoses at next to the firewall is $120 and they also need replacing.

if you cant find a good one, I think the best bet is use a brass fitting on the manifold to run hoses instead of the steel pipe, and you can re locate the temp sender to the other side of the manifold where the blank plug is...

I'd like to know the level of interest if I was to manufacture stainless versions of these?

Thanks Troy. I was considering making something in brass, but then stainless (or polished stainless :D ) would be better... It's bending the stuff neatly to the right shape that's a problem for me.

I'd be interested in one (and I reckon, if they're not available in the US, you might get some orders from there).

If there is a way of routing the piping around the back of the engine, you could use any 90 degree rubber pipes to join it to the heater tubes at the firewall.

There's only the EGR cooling pipes on the earlier stuff and you only need some threaded bungs for A/C temp sensors etc. I'd do a version so that you'd just plug what you didn't use.
Next question: What would you be prepared to pay for such a piece?

At a guess, $100-200. We're at the mercy of the manufacturer! :D

Is the fitting that screws into the manifold available in stainless?

Apart from the fact that original cost more than that, you guessed wrong. No we'll have to make the fitting too. Once we have an NC program done it's a matter of assembly time and therefore cost.

I haven't bought many parts from Ford and those I did buy seemed overpriced. I guess, if they're the only supplier, they can charge what they like. Any idea what Ford would have charged for this part?

Just brainstorming a way to keep the manufacturing cost down....

If stainless is expensive (and potential buyers will bawk at the cost), could it be made in mild steel? That way the manifold fitting could be reused if it isn't corroded much. It looks like the tubes have suffered the most, probably from people using chlorinated water.

The manifold fitting is already steel and does not come off the pipe. Besides I'm only interested in making the highest quality piece and that means stainless.

Hey guys, resurrecting this thread, I have similar woes and a question....... the fitting that goes into the manifold from that pipe, is that a standard thread type fitting? I want to completely replace these stupid metal pipes and just run rubber hoses - sick of trying to cure leaks!

I measured it and it looks like a 3/4" UNC tapered fitting. I'm not sure if they are readily available if you want to make up an alternative in brass or stainless.

If the heater pipes are rusted out, you can still buy a new aftermarket one on eBay in the USA. I paid $175 AU with postage about a month ago.
