Are you able to tune jase's chips with the moates binary editor software or is it only with tunerpro?
I also bought the quarterhorse and after software, the wideband and the chip it cost me a touch over 900 bucks Australian.

The reason for putting a permanent tune on a J3 instead of leaving the quarterhorse in place is the battery on the quarterhorse being soldered into place. It goes flat over time.

You can use BE with ti chips im fairly sure. As long as you have a programmer for the chip.

that's generally only if the car sits for long periods of time without running, obviously the battery will fail eventually, mines been in for close to a year and a half , and it only gets driven short distance twice a week.

but if at anytime the battery does fail ill either solder in a new one or transfer the tune to a moates j3 chip...

The QH battery isn't rechargable. It's a standard lithium back-up battery like in a PC or laptop. I have 2 QH's. My newer QH was 3 years old when the battery died. That was due to a batch of QH's being fitted with the wrong resistor & draining the battery. Replaced by Moates for the cost of postage. My older QH is in a car that gets used 1/month at most. It's almost 6 years since QH was fitted. Battery is still fine. They are supposed to last 10 years. Replacing battery would require a very steady hand and a fine tip, the tracks on the pcb are close and the solder pads are tiny. I usually transfer to a Moates chip once I'm happy with the tune, but of course you then loose data logging. I found the Moates chip had a better edge connector with a much more positive contact onto the ecu, and no fouling issues with the EEC4 components that required to be bent out of the way with TI chip. But Moates chip has only 2 tune positions v's 4 tune positions on the TI chip. For my purposes this is irrelevant. When I first got Moates gear I tried unsuccessfully to program a TI chip with Burn2 & F3 adapter. Newer firmware may have changed this, I haven't updated.
