I gave the old EF Ghia 5.0 a bit of a kick in the guts the other day, she pulls strongly up to 100- but it just about wont go any faster then 160, i mean it will but very, very slowly...is this the norm??? No mod except 2.5 inch redback. It is on Gas too but is tuned well.

My EB2 5spd Wagon actually pulls too 200 without a prob, the 5.0 seems to have no breath after 160km'/h.

Is this what i should expect out of this car?

or maybe it just needs good heads(gt40p), better mani's(explorer) and a decent set of headers(pacies) to make it go how a V8 should?????

Right on the money there mate.

They do start to get harder to breathe the faster you go.

It was even evident on my XR8 when it was stock with Explorer manifold although it started to happen at 160k/hr and wouldn't go much past 180k/hr unless the track had a really long straight. Now its a breeze with the GT40P heads and AU3 XR8 cam and 1.7 rollers.
Just eats the track up. Mine is a manual not an auto.

Get rid of the gas and see how fast it goes then...

Most dual fuel setups are horribly restrictive.

*lol* then instead of travelling 500 k's for $40, I'll be spending $90-$100...plus its not about me trying to get "Max Speed" its just I noticed the power diff to the six- i mean f**k.. my EB2 6cyl SEDAN auto has kick down at that speed....the manual wagon eb2 stilll pulls at that speed also...not the 8 though...is my car f**k then???? anyone else with a stock windsor not impressed with top end power????????

thats the oposite for my old eb xr8..
it was fairly average 0 to 100 km but it would wind up over the180 mark easy..

i would also say its the lpg holding it back it sounds like the lpg system cant keep up the amount of air/gas the 50l needs up top.

unless your 50l is tired ? does it have alot of kms on the clock?

what rpm is she at when it runs out of steam at the 160kph mark?
is it the same on petrol?

if it pulls hard to 100kmph but doesnt want to pull much past that my guess would be the gas system is restricting its breathing at higher rpm.

It runs really well up to 100, the car would starve then too if that was the prob.

It is not too tired around 165,000

Its doing around 4000-4300 rpm at that speed I think...

Round about where power and torque both start to drop off on a stock 5.0. Do the heads, delete teh GAS and run it on fuel, will make a very big difference.

Is your EB 6 running on gas? I think it's unanimous that the lpg would be your biggest restriction.

My car when stock was pulling past 180, it seemed to hit a wall at about 200 (not literally!) but it's manual. 200 in 5th is running at about 4000rpm with the 3.23s

my focus zetec has enough balls to get up to 220km. any e-series ford auto should do 180km/h in 3rd EASILY... with standard gearing that is

all my mates that have had v8's that are stock(ebs) (just manuals with full exhausts) are no offence s**t..... they are fairly torquey and get to 100 alright but never have BALLS for higher speed the ford 6 out runs them.... stupid it should be the other way.

my brown ed outrun my old mates 347 stroker manual with 160rwkw tuned off the line all the way up to 180 easily 2 or more cars to 100 and double 2 180,

mine was AU 4.0L Auto 4.11s tickford head worked and cam no tuning. was fun :D will have that again soon. But 5 speed instead.

That sounds way under-powered for a 347...
