It was only 52 minutes between your first and second post mate, relax lol.

Is it going through heaps of fuel?
If an engine is dumping too much fuel in it can wash the oil from the bores and wear the rings down at a rapid rate... Have seen this happen a few times.

What kind of carb are you running on it?

Alright I'll be serious. Do you think it is possible that the inlet manifold gaskets are leaking under high vacuum ie. when toddy is driving (thrashing!) it? This would allow it to suck oil in from under the valley cover, no?

Yep, that was going to be my next comment... Definately not uncommon for that to happen.
Did you use any type of sealer around the gaskets?
I recommend a bead of silicone on the ends, and Permatex No3 along the face of the ports on head and intake.
It sounds like you could be sucking oil into the ports from the valley.

If its on lpg and its blowing smoke (burning oil) i would say your rings are definatly gone!! if you think its burning oil now try running it on petrol and it will blow more smoke and burn more oil !!!

i use to have a old v8 valiant on gas and the rings were worn out. it would only burn oil when you give it a thrashing but when i switched it over to petrol it was one nasty smoke machine...

i was using about 4ltrs of oil every 400 kms!!
but it just kept on going and going and going....

all i can say is dont thrash it as much or just keep topping the oil up
or you can reco it..
