Hey everyone,

I have an EF XR8 and I've just had to replace my starter motor because it was completely burnt out. This is because of the position of the starter motor being too close to my new extractors. I'm assuming it's just getting too hot down there for it.

To stop a repeat of this happening again, my mechanic suggested getting some sort of heat shield or fibreglass installed. Does anyone know somewhere in Perth I could get this done? and roughly how much I'd be looking at paying?

Thanks a lot in advance.
Adam

hey dude fibreglass would more than likely burn or melt

i would suggest a metal heatsheild of some sort over the starter motor

u just need a small air gape ie 1-2cms to help prevent the heat gettign in

or for a cheaper way get some exhaust wrap and wrap the pipes just near the starter motor

or for more $$ full ceramic coatin

Go to an exhaust shop near you as they have alot of heat shield material.

Yeah mine had an original heat sheild on it. Obviously from factory, so yeah search around a few wreckers, they should have one for sure.
