210rwkw at JMM.....

nah just at the wheels

Sorry no, I doubt you'd get close.
The best I reckon you'd get would be approx 150rwkw - 180rwkw and even that would depend on a whole other bunch of factors, parts, tune and even the way the dyno is run.

ive been on the summit racing site and for probly a little over 3000 plus freight i could get a 347 scat stroker kit and an edelbrock or holley cam head and manifold kit

Thatd be a fair bit over 3k man.
Not to mention $1000 for machining the block for the 347, then thousands of dollars elsewhere to set it all up for 347.

One thing i notice alot on the forums is people under budget something chronic.
If your gonna set a budget, set it high.
If you want a 347, put your budget at $15k!!!

if you can do the relief work yourself using die grinder you can biuld it yourself for arond 8000. you gotta do as much of it as you can to save any labour costs you can. Plus try to get your parts from the states their heaps cheaper they pay 1800 for a 347 stroker kit over there and our dollar isnt to bad at the moment but you still gotta tune it then

OK, there has been some debate on what HP this will make so let's do the maths. It's approximate but will be a reasonable guide.

The original engine made 165kW net at the flywheel. The GT40P heads flow 20% better "under the (lift) curve", and 25% better at 4-500 thou lift. We'll use an average of 22.5% in the calculation. The stock cam has lift of around 444 thou, so with 1.72 roller rockers it will be 477 thou. There will also be a little boost in duration and a reduction in paracitic loss due to friction. We'll use 8kW in the calculation. The induction system (explorer, 65mm TB, 70mm MAF) won't restrict flow, the heads will limit output assuming exhaust is up to the task.

A tune could be worth 0-10%. Let's go down the middle at 5%

Drivetrain losses are around 15%

If the engine isn't fresh mechanically and electrically (increased blow-by, worn valve guides, tired ignition system with greater mis-fire etc) the 165kW starting point would need to be reduced.

So the calcs are

(165 x 1.225 +8) x 1.05 = 221kW net flywheel

221kw x 85% = 187kW at rear wheels

gt40 heads and intake-$1000, injector's-$350,j3/ eec4 tuner's chip/tune-$500 ish, roller rockers-$350. Get 1.72's and keep stock cam. $800 for other bits and pieces. But there will be some other extra costs (t/b) which may tip it just over $3000, but you should be good for 210 rwkw

A 70mm maf too...

that's a very good break down, but can you do the tune as 10% gain. As i never like to let a car out knowing it has 50% more in the tune.

10% is.....

(165 x 1.225 +8) x 1.1 = 231kW net flywheel
231kw x 85% = 196kW at rear wheels

If you want a "real" 200rwkw figure, No BS one off motor you'll need more than gt40 heads and intake. You'll need a wilder cam. For example: http://xr8chic.com/index1.html And that is with AFR185s, cam and lots more good pieces that didn't cost $3k..

forget chassis dyno figures, arguing over 14rwkw is pointless, easily see that difference or more between different dynos.
the combo is still a good one regardless of what you want to imagine it will make over the internet.

Trickflow EL has similar bolt on's to xr8 chic and he pulled 205rwkw and run a 13.6@100mph, he had a cobra manifold(gt40) car was an automatic with 3.45 lsd.

going by "xafalcons'" calc's with the gt40p/explorer setup....

if i can get around 200 rwkw's from the those upgrade's (close to what i've got to install) i'll be more than happy....for a daily driver
