Hi all, I have a AUIII XR8 which is fully optioned but stock. It is a manual and I love the car. However I want to free it up a bit and really dont know where to start. Can you suggest exhaust/cat/header/chip that are proven for the Windsor? I would really appreciate it.

How much do you have to spend?

Custom tune (edit), and a G&D or Bluepower airbox would be a good start...

Cheers xr8ute. Budgeting around $1500 or so.
What is the custom tune (edit), is that the ECU re-tune?
It is the last of the AUIII's limited edition of 200 (apparently as there is no info on the web).
There is already a std cold air intake, is the blue power air box alot better volume wise?

Thanks again, appreciate it.

$1500 would cover the cost of a custom tune. Speak to Chris from Bluepower (Ph: 03 9305 3000), he has done some awesome work tuning with the edit.

The Blupower and G&D airboxes are much larger in volume, and sealed into the area behind the headlight (rather than having a small snorkel over the radiator to feed the box). They retail around $600 from both places.

Yeah, the edit is the nickname for the CAPA Flash Tuner which "edits" the calibration of the (very powerful) factory ECU rather than rely on a (very basic) piggyback or interceptor.

Limited edition?
Is it a pursuit?

Thanks xr8ute, I just spoke to Chris and he was excellent value to talk too.

I have booked in for a custom edit, he is even coming down to Frankston so I dont have to travel up to Campbellfield. $1650 including unlimited tunes for the life of the car, which I think is ok considering it is stock at the moment.

Next I think will be a Pacemaker 2 into 1 with high flow cat.

He said it's probably not worth replacing the box on a AU as he dosnt see the bang for buck factor, like you would on a BA.

I'll let you know how it all goes.

Lucas

It's a limited edition blueprint one of 200, very last of AUIII.

Yeah at D&T performance in the city. Got a flash tuner on my auIII 5ltre after cam change, allready had extractors and system from exhaust technology. The Flash tuner made a huge difference, but dont expect huge changes if you leave motor stock, get your extractors etc before you get it flashed. This way it gives the tuner man on the dyno something to work with.
flash turner with 3 dyno settings $1450.

Ive been doing a fair bit of research on the Flash technology, and think it is the best bang for buck upgrade going for the Windsor.

If you cant afford to upgrade extractors, cam, cat etc before a custom flash tune then negotiate with the guys who will tune your car with the flash technology and fix a price so you can go back at any stage whilst you own the vehicle for a re-tune.

I was offered this at Blue Power in Melbourne, and for an extra $220, you get free cutom tunes when ever you make an upgrade.
