Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has a billet timing gear drive (some times called noisy gears ect) on their 5l windsor?

I have just purchased some from sydney speed supplies (the noisy straight cut one) and will be putting it in soon. just want to know if anyone has had any probs with knock sensors ect.........

There are no knock sensors on windsors. Perhaps double check the inside of your timing cover too for possible fouling.

oh ok thanx :) I didnt know that. Ive only had my XR8 for a few months and only had sixes before that.

On most of the websites I've looked at it said that it may require some machining of the timing cover on some applications but I don't know if the windsor needs it or not.......

How much did you pay for them out of interest? SSS tend to have stuff fairly cheap.

heads didnt come after 6 months of waiting, and the refund was just as hard to get. Others after we had this trouble also informed us of major port misalignment issues, and rocker cover issues, which is probably why the rocker covers dont fit other clevo heads, ie CHI. Rocker covers leak, dont fit properly and the die cast alloy is super brittle, I think he has even cracked one from memory from installation and removal. Engine builder refused to touch the Flywheel due to bad experiences with them, ie excessive balance issues and out of true in very short time, but we didnt test that due to already being dissapointed with other products.

If it is from SSS then put it in the bin now, save your money and purchase the Edelbrock unit. This is the only one which will fit an efi 5.0L with minimal modification.

HOWEVER my 0.02c do not bother with ANY gear drives for a street car.

or if you want to go back to the trusty old chain, then the Comp Cams 2138 will fit with NO modifications, and is well priced from summit. 3 keyway crank sprocket, but dont trust the timing marks, as what I found is that they are cam not crank degrees.

Well, it is the CAM we are degreeing in, not the crank. While its the crank sprocket that is moved, we still talk in cam dgrees usually.
