I have a bog stock XR8 that i brought for $6000 has 140,000kms on it.
I keep needing to put my foot on the accelirator to get it to start this problem seems to happen about 50% of the time. And dosnt seem to change when hot or cold. What sensor/s usually cause this to happen?
I always use BP ultimate fuel asewell.

Clean the throttle body big guy. Dont use solvents but you can use a rag moistened with WD40 and then follow up with a dry rag. It will be full of carbon so give it a good clean including the edge of the butterfly and I wouldn't be surprised if it is heaps better.

Not that didnt seem to work.

I have narrowed a little with the help of this fourm.
It nilly always starts when cold but when its warmed up will always do this for the first time i start it.

I think it mught be the ECT Sensor.

I knowtice a fuel smell and suspect that the ECT sensor is flodding the engine a bit at startup.

I rang ford and got a price of $153 for the sensor. seems a little steep as most ford prices are ($1200 for a startermotor lol)

im in sydney dose anybody know what this part should cost?

your motor has low klms, has it been serviced? check the air cleaner or replace it,spark plugs and leads, look at distributor cap,if you smell petrol-check vaccuum hoses ,may have a small leak.does it pull hard or sluggish?

id suspect the ISC solenoid is getting stuck closed..

pull it off the side of the throttle body(angled thing at the back) and clean it out etc.. (or find someone with a good working e series n swap the ISC with them see if they have problems and if yours are sovled.

i dont think its a sensor thing as the ecu goes off hard coded tables for the startup sequence.

I have replaced the plugs and also checked the leads for ohmage and breaking down thay seem ok. The car has never been a rocket but i didnt know whether that was just a trait of this model. some days it goes like a rocket and other days its a little slugish. i also noticed that i have next to no power after 4000 rpm dosnt splutter or anything just seems to drop off in the hp department. i didnt think it would be the isc as the car is perfect at idle no matter what strain is on the car.

Im currently doing some replacing of parts on my car anyway. i service it myself but i dont have service records from before i brought the car.

I just brought a romac Balencer for it good to 10500 RPM cant se myself ever hitting that but you knever know. new waterpump.

i think ill clean the isc just to be sure. keep throwing items at me to check ill eventually get to the botom of it.

try the fuel line filter and some injector cleaner to remove the rubbish in tank and lines, check your timming,it can reach 5000-5500rpm stock, how strong is the coil, try shorting out 1 plug lead.
