Am off to granville autotech to get the 5.0 retuned for possibly the last time. On a recent dyno day the afr was a shocking 9.8:1. Hopefully we can sort this out. I also lost powre and made 128rwkw with no NOS. Was thinking of getting a bridge put in to make the unichip an on/off sortof thing to see if there really is any noticable difference between the normal program and the chipped program. Will advise you all tomorrow night how this goes
Brett

Hi brett interested to hear how you go.

I have been hanging off getting the unichip tuned in my AU I6 and Spiro is looking like the best gut to do it but I might wait and see how you go.

I don't understand why the unichip would change over time. I can see the MAP stuffing up over time though!

Not the chip thats changed, but other mods done since fitting. I have a flat spot off idle til about 1600rpm. The chip was originally tuned for a granetelli, but wouldnt idle below 1800rpm. Was a problem with the maf, not the chip. Getting it sorted 2morro, or going full programmable injection> either way i want it sorted

How did you go that afternoon with the standard xr8 ecu I sold you ?
(before fitting in the chip)
Did that have a flat spot as well ?

9.8 is pretty bad... that's i was running initially with the blower and made a measly 153kw...

I'm sick of MAFs and piggy back chips. Bring on the speed-density programmable ECU!!!!!

MoTeC supports MAF. Very tempting for the Waggin :D:D

Must be one of the only aftermarkets that does.... lol, too many variables in MAF for my liking... far outweight the benefits imo

Its quite interesting actually

For efficiency (fuel) calculation you can use the following (against RPM);
TP%
MAP/Exhaust MAP %
MAP / BAP %
MAP
Mass Per Induction (MAF)

For the MAF, it states:
Mass per Induction

The Efficiency Point is the Air Mass per induction and is derived
from Mass Air Flow (MAF) and Engine RPM as follows:

Efficiency Point = MAF / inductions per rev / (RPM/60) * 100

The MAF sensor may be a voltage type or a frequency type. If a
frequency type is used then a Digital Input must be configured to
suit. If a voltage type is used then an Analog Voltage input must
be configured to suit.

The same settings are available for load calculation (spark), plus an additional one, which is verrry funky:

Injector Pulse Width / Injector Pulse Width Scaling.

Motec claims its the most accurate way to determine engine load. I might have to sus it out too :D

Yeah i was under the impression its the most accurate way to measure air... the hotwire system can account for air density etc. as its measuring weight... but I think the tough bit is figuring out what MAF voltage = what air mass... i.e. how to translate MAF voltage to the MAF variable in the above VE calc... flow bench?

These figures should come with a new aftermarket MAF :)

Just having a bit of a read on MAF calibration for the motec... apparently it accepts calibration of grams/second.. and the actual eff calculation is based on g/cyl.

Some in-built calbrations state 5V linear max 100g/s, max 250g/s or max 500g/s, and of course there is user defined calibration.

I'll have to sus out the frequency based MAF calibrations too.

Well the tune went well. Picked up 12kw in the lower RPM range and 10 in the upper rpm, for a max of 138.5 No NOS. Did a single pull on the dyno with what was left in the bottle and only made 168.7rwkw, But the bottle was almost empty. What will be interesting is the next meet at WSID, when with a full bottle we will see how she goes. The XR8 ECU worked flawlessly, thanks AXR88U. The car feels stronger, but the flat spot at idle has been diagnosed as a problem with the MAF. Am wondering wether the NOS explosion i had a few weeks ago has caused this. Will keep you all advised, and for those going on the Bathurst cruise, see you all today, feel free to come say hi
Brett

My BA is getting the chip done this Thursday too, one of the capa setups. I'm hoping for about a 15rwkw increase.
