Hey All,

I want to build another EF/EL XR but as ive seen alot of good turbo gear for the BA engines i was tossing up between a BA turbo engine or a very tuff stroker.

This is what is on the plate as its going to be a very tuff street XR. A full house BA turbo engine E.G H beam rods, forged pistons and so on like all the other big power BA's out there, or a 363, 371 or 393 Dart block, scat totating assembly, AFR 205 heads and the works but a hydrolic roller cam for relaibilty and maintenence.

My previous EF XR8 had a 347 windsor with AFR185 heads and so on with a c10 behind it which i still have.

So the big question is which engine to build????

I love the rumble of a V8 going down the street and people freaking out of the noise and hearing me from 2-3 streets away coming.

I also like the turbo spooling and drivability and quitness of the 6 cyclinder turbo as the V8 rumble gets abit much after a while.

Give me some feedback people????

The reason for the sale was i had other priorities eg purchasing property so that why i sold it and now starting to get ready for the next project.

Turbo windsor or quad cam 4.6 turbo.

20b belongs in a mazda, sure they go great, but does it need to be in a XR?

The turbo 6 has been done to death, unless your breaking records it'll be a little bit on the boring side (unless your driving  ).

So the turbo v8, 351 windsor with a huffer or two. :P

I just love the rumble as you dont hear it anymore and ppl freak out and stair, PLUS with a big conveter and cruzing in 2nd gear you just jump on it and it friessssssssssss the tyres so thats another good thing about a V8. Instant power

Easy answer, "s**t" the car weighs to much for rotary, that is why you don't see them in all of Mazda's range.

As for fitting one to a Ford you wouldn't want to probably go anything heavier than a MK1 or 2 Corty, Escorts are lighter so the better option. But it still comes back to the fact they sound crap, I used to work on RX8s and I wouldn't own one, you have to be deaf or a mental disorder to own a rotary, I normally hate the sound of a 6 cylinder, but it sounds like heaven compared to just driving around the block in a rotary.

^^^ what steedy said but I'd be aiming for 632 cubes twin turbonetics super thumpers and one of those lenco's backed up with a torque converter that the yanks seem to be heavilly into at the moment.

Dare to dream, dare to be different.
