thanks for the help Scaffy I have had a look at the ISC and disconected it and still have the whistling no matter what I do, the base idle is already bumped up to 1000 rpm and it still stalls. I have attatched the dyno readout but I will get another one once I have my new exhaust and everthing else is sorted out, I am interested in how your stroker will turn out as thats the path I want to go do next, I also think its unfair you are buying up all the elxr8's in perth

They told me that the whistling was the manifold and i would have to live with it and the stalling was that i needed a new ecu but I wanted to do a bit of research before I go back because I am still trying to learn, I am going to give them a call tomorrow and try to sort it out, if it is a vacum leak it could be the reason behind the stalling, either way I'm not happy with it at the moment

Ah s**t... I didn't realise you were in Perth... They did mine and I had heaps of problems... If they changed your fuel pump, check the lid is screwed on the top of the fuel tank. Check the throttle body has all 4 nuts fastening it rather than just 2 that are finger-tight and half the gasket between EGR and tb hasn't been sucked in. Also, ensure all the fasteners on the lower manifold are tight.

What have they used to tune it? I might be able to help you out with the tune. Why would you need to get a new ecu?

Sorry, is this in an EL or AU?

It's an EF scaffy, He's going to try one of my 4DEG's but I don't think it's the EEC either....at least we'll eliminate that possibility.

Yep, the best thing to do is give it a go, I guess. I really hope it eliminates his problem but am doubtful.

Putting a plate over the ISC doesnt aleviate the whistling noise. I tried that. Filling it with epoxy will make it go away, but then there is no ISC. I had the same issues with mine, and i run full programmable ECU. Try filling the isc port with papermache and see if it goes away. I am betting its the TB causing the bad idle and the whistle. Also enlarge the hole in the center of the TB, this helped my idle issue when i had no ISC. I found the TB has a big tendancy to slam shut and prevent idle, yet to get it to idle the air whistles past the end of the blade when set so it is open, and the idle is way to high.
Hope that helps
Brett

If the edges of the ISC are sharp and straight then that may be the issue. BBK found that the air passing over the sharp edges caused a whistling sound, hence further BBK TB's had the edges beveled down to eliminate the whistling.

thanks Brett, i was just thinking today about what i can fill in the ISC to see if thats the problem, i will give the ECU swap a try first. If it is the TB causing the whistle would it get louder under heavy throttle?

I checked the edges on the ISC and they are beveled down already, I have seen a number of people in the US drill a hole in the centre of the TB as Brett suggested with mixed results
