Gday guys

The V8 scene is new to me, so thats why I have a couple of questions for you. I wrote off my EF 4ltr on tuesday and its insured for nearly $8k. Now my mrs doesnt want me to.....but now that I have the oppotunity I WANT A V8!!

What common problems exist in the EF/EF2 V8 fairmonts/ghias that I should be wary of when Im looking to purchase one.

TIA

I'm not 100% sure on this but i think the only real worry sometimes is that the Windsors are a bit hard on Water Pumps.
But you wont have any of the head gasket worries that you would with the 6's. Overall to my knowledge, they're pretty bulletproof to an extent.

Yep the engines are bullet proof, even when given a hard time they can go to well over 300,000kms. I would pay more attention to trans, suspension, diff etc

As everyone else has said, there aren't too many problems with them. Having had an EF I6 already, you should be aware of the other potential problems of the E-series. So, here is a list of things I've had problems with, most of which you should already know:

Stock harmonic balancer - rubber rings coming out
Pinging caused by faulty MAF - easily fixed by cleaning the MAF wires
Radiator - an obvious one with many Falcons

That is all I can think of for the moment. Don't be too worried about Kms, they can last for a long time apparently. The biggest complaint is that they don't have enough power in stock form, but the note is to die for IMO.
