have to go the clevo they have the history with the real GT's not this new s**t.
a 351 clevo in my el would be sweet but even better would be a 390 stroker with a supercharger two speed auto 9inch diff and 12inch rubber rip the hell out off some tires and need a cage to drag.

Just thought I'd point out that a 427 is not a "Shotgun".
The Shotgun name was actually referring to the Boss 429 which of course is a 385 series big block and not an FE big block like the 427 which could be had in wedge or SOHC form. The SOHC 427 had a Hemispherical combustion chamber and the Boss 9 had a Crescent shaped combustion chamber and was often referred to as the Semi-Hemi.
Also the "Dove" head term for 385 series engines is really just the engineering number for the std 1970 429/460 heads which is D0VE. D0 meaning 1970. These heads had no real advantage over other 460 heads.
But I certainly agree with the choice generally :wink:
As for myself I will be building my 390 into at least a 416ci capacity very soon. and I'll probably drop my CHI heads onto a World 427 short someday and stick it into my Van...the 4.0L is making me ill.

Pete.

D0VE =
D0 =1970
VE = Lincoln Division

I dunno why as these motors were used in Fords and Mercury's as well.

My dragster has had D3VE heads on it up until now making 420hp. We have a set of ported D0VE heads prepped and ready to go for next season.

D0VE heads have 75cc chambers, while D3VE heads have 95cc chambers. The D3VE heads were pollution heads with air injection ports in the exhaust ports. They are very lumpy, bumpy and considered the worst heads for making power. We were very happy to get them to make 420hp unported.

You might find C9VE (1969) heads around but they are rare and were more or less the same as the D0VE heads.

There's no substitute for cubic inches.

So a 460, especially a stroked and bored version. 514+ cubes for me.

Gary (Pilot) and the other one was a baker (He owned the XE, sorry but I forgot his name, may even have the names around the wrong way), well back then anyway, that 351 was originally fitted to Gary's XY.

Those blokes lived in Rockhampton back then, the bloke that owned the XE used to drive it all the time on the street, while I had problems with my 351C overheating in my XF, the XE hardly needed the thermos running. Pretty cool blokes, they didn't talk like money is no option, the belief was build it cheap, if you blew it up, it didn't cost you the earth as plenty have spent big only to blow and loose most of it.
