600 bucks isnt gona get ya to far with a v8 exhaust.
what i mean is no extractors.
and a cat back system wont boost power by anything you can notice it will just be louder.

You might be able to pickup and fit a complete std AU XR8 exhaust for your Fairmont.

Like these std XR8 extractors/cats for $300 on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-XR8-AU-EXTR ... dZViewItem

$300 is a bit too steep IMO, but they are much better than the std non-xr pipes.

These are another option, apparantly the ceramic coated T3 stroker version, and only $100 at the moment, but they are in QLD... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AU-Tickford-Exha ... dZViewItem

A 2.5" redback or lukey catback shouldnt cost much more than $300....very easy to fit by yourself of your handy with a spanner.

if your after power dont get the xr8 system. after market is the way to go for the best power system.

take him on but with a twist, either a full a car of passenger, probably 4 for him, of average weight males, you have 4 as well of the same wieght, or towing a van, you'll kick his a*** forever.

or a duel, lash both cars together with a good strap or rope, and see who can pull who backwards, I did this when my EF was a stock chaser and easily pulled a WRX backwards while he was bouncing around scrapping for grip on his low profiles (tip, lower your rear tyre pressures a little and pisk a spot with smooth tarmac), as far as he was concerned I had more outright power than him and he never challenged again, even though he would have whipped me in a drag from the lights, speed doesn't equal power, but also given enough road you'll do him top end.

the idea is to use your raw power (torque) to your advantage.

Best way to get the fairmont going for now would be a change in diff ratio (3.9 or 4.11) it's the first 50m that the car is a bit tardy, diff gears will help take off dramaticly.

Ride: BFII Turbo

Power: 253 rwkw

Location: Waurn Ponds

some stats between the two: (when standard)

Power

Integra R- 125kw @ 7300 rpm
AU FG 5.0- 175kw @ 4600 rpm

Torque

Integra R- 173 Nm @ 6200 rpm
AU FG 5.0- 395 @ 3200

Weight

Integra R- 1176 kg
AU FG 5.0- 1650 kg

It would be a lot closer than you would reckon if the integra R was standard. It has absolutely no low down torque to get it motivated from a standstill.

I reckon tha AU with exhaust, extractors, diff gear changes (probs the 3.7:1 or 3.9:1 ratio) and maybe a mild cam set would chomp him up no wukkas.

personally Ive been up against an 01 type r in my EB before and he was rather embarassed. however if it came to corners....

I agree totally.

The integra may get a little jump off the mark if the guy knows how to drive a manual, but reckon a well stalled takeoff in the V8 wouldnt be too far off, and would definately mow it down.

Plus your mates definately a wanker driving a car like that in the first place. Find a new friend !

i saw a 2.2 integra with a mugen exhaust, pod and unichip make 135 kw at the wheels. i would be very wary of racing a type r in your standard 5.0 powered falcon. you may only see its taillights.

There are a few at the drags every now and then and they are pulling good times too. Slowest i have seen is a 14.5 in a stocker. First gear they take a bit to get going (until they reach over 5000 rpm) and from there its high revs and wheelspin on gear changes.

with the cams being in the block in these motors, it is a fairly pricey exercise to do a cam. could be upwards of 2k depending on what else gets done. radiator and condensor need to be removed and a fair bit of labour. a good cam is what the au's need though.
