I have a Fairlane NC2 with 5.0 motor.

I did a routine clean of the throttle body and noticed some oil in there?? It seemed like engine oil

I wiped it clean and a week later checked it again.. There is a bit of oil in there?

How can oil be getting in there?

Blowby. Your vent for the rockercovers comes into a tube at the top of the TB.

The motor is just wearing out, like all of them do eventually. Oil is getting past the piston rings, forcing an oil haze out through the rocker cover breather pipe into the throttle body. All engines do this- it just gets worse with age. If the motor isn't using oil or fouling the plugs, don't worry about it. :)

Just buy a K&N breather for your rocker covers and block off the T/B pipe at the top.

True, but modifications to your emissions system would be illegal in most civilised countries, for good reason. Except NZ. :P
