There's two types of Woolworths servos, one is caltex affiliated and the other one is straight safeway. The ones that are the straight Safeway Plus+ use s**t Singapoore fuel which is no good and the Caltex ones use caltex fuel, which is supposedly the same as Ampol fuel as well - therefore my conclusion is that Ampol Gold and Caltex Premium (can't think of its other name) are the same fuel. The Mobil 800 I think is 98 RON whereas the other two are 95 RON.

There is nothing wrong with Safeway Fuel!
All Woolworths/Safeways Servos use Caltex Fuel, however not all of them have installed the Caltex signs yet. Our local one in Carrum Downs has always sold Caltex, its been there about 6 years.

Some of the smaller independent servos use imported fuel however most of it comes from South America not Singapore. Singapore is where our pricing is compared too on the world market.

Hate to tell you all, but Woollies done away with Plus petrol some time back, Caltex runs the show, any one working there are not Woollies employees any more, I know this because I was an agent for Fujitsu while Caltex was taking over it, Fujitsu repaired the POS, computer/and related equipment.

So if you have a complaint about the fuel you are only buying Caltex fuels, not any imported or other local brand fuels as they were doing before.

This was change over was finished before mid last year.

Is this Aust. wide?

Yep, as Safeway is Woolworths in some other states.

A my wife works for Safeways I can give you the answers. Safeway is only in Victoria, all other states are Woolworths. Staff at Safeways Petrol are employees of Safeway not Caltex. In some states Caltex run the servos with their own people and have a agreement with Woolworths for the discount scheme and advertising. Regardless The fuel is Caltex fuel and was years before the agreement was developed.

I haven't seen it yet, but they have already stopped using LRP and that would give them another storage tank and bowsers for vortex 98, locally all they have done with the old LRP bowsers is convert them to ULP.

I saw Vortex labels on the bowsers at a local Woolworths fuel outlet just the other day. Not sure if it was the 98RON variety or not...

The bowser should be badged as Vortex98 if it just said Vortex then it would be 95ron.
