hey guys i have the chance to buy xe falcon 302 i have been a big fan of the 5.8 but not of the 4.9 have thought them as slugs . question what are the pro and cons of a 4.9 wat are they like . ive heard they are good boat moarings. i dont have boat .. let me know thanks

A change of the crank and rods makes it a 351...
Nothing reallly wrong with the 302 Cleveland, with the right mods they make good horsepower and can keep a 351 honest.

My thoughts exactly. When i bought my XD it was 302, what a slug that was. 302 are funny, a bit like 4.1's in the way that they either go well or they don't, i've driven a couple of 302's that felt like 351's and were bog stock. Within 6 months my 302 dropped a rod so in went the 351... You can always do the same down the track, or rebuild yours and throw in 351 crank and rods. |

many years ago i built a 302 with a sig erson tq20 cam mild port on the heads, performer manifold and a 600 holley.It cost bugger all and kept up to many 351's.

Or get a 351 crank, use the 302 rods and use the special pistons that ACL make for that application. Works very well.
If I remember correctly, the John Goss specials had 302's in them and went harder than 351's.

The Goss specials were simply a styling exercise similar to the XC Cobras.
Either way, with a bit of knowledge and some $$$ spent in the right areas there is no reason you couldn't turn it into a reasonably quick street car.

Twin turbo and punching out 800 to 900 BHP.
