Ride: AU series 2 XR8

Location: melbourne
VIC, Australia

hi everyone, my car has recently started to act all werid on me... whenever i slow down either to do a turn or a complete stop... as i clutch my revs suddenly drop i know it is normal for it to drop but it drops very low usually to about 200 rpm then bounces back up to about 1200 then back down to 3-400 again and does this untill it stops at about 1000. as the revs get low i can feel the car is about to stall and on a number of ocasions the car has stalled on me. ive noticed this happening more often when the weather is cool/cold... the car is a au series 2 xr8 manual and i am using shell optimax. any ideas on what it could be would be much apreciated

it could be the powersteering idle-up switch, when you turn does it do that?

I don't think the V8's had that senser?
Is there a senser or switch down by the brake peddal ? Check if that is working?
If not I guess its the IAC unit again....Needs cleaning or servicing....

Adjust the base idle.
Make sure the MAF sensor hasnt come away from the intake tube, and the same between the intake tube and throttle body.

Also the TPS can cause idle probles.

My EF 6 cyl on gas was doing that exact same thing but every now and again it really would stall. That was only when i was running it on petrol, which it didnt like very much.

I had BAD computer problems though... For this reason i subsequently sold the car and bought the EL XR8!

This may not (and probably isnt) be what you have got, but it sounds like the same sympotms.
