ED's should say EEC-IV. Maybe the airbox lid broke or something. No big deal, really as all the lids are the same from EB-EL V8 (with the exception of the EEC-V/IV moulding)

Did not know that..

As waggin said wouldnt worry too much, but to me id be more wondering if it had been in a front end accident.. I mean, the front of the engine bay looks better than new, coolant tank replaced, air box replaces, side badges missing...

I may just be a little picky, and i wouldnt worry if you cant proof of an accident, the badges were taken off for cosmetic reasons and coolant tank being replaced as they go s**t after while..
Something to think/ask about. :P

No probs, as i said tho, if you cant find evidence of an accident its possible its all been done with reason; fingers crossed, looks in very good condition.
Let us know if you go inspect it.

That car belongs to a good mate of mine...

Its an awesome car, I have already told him that if it doesnt sell by august 12th, I will buy it.

This car is in MINT condition, you would be crazy to modify it. its the perfect concourse car.

A guy from WA that I met once is really keen to get it. He rang me up the other day to ask me all about it. He has even priced transportation from sydney to WA.

This car has NEVER been in an accident. its not a "hack", no damage - this is the real deal.

The car is stock as - so its mega slow, and the exhaust sounds like s**t, but hey - thats how tickford made em.

Guys,
Dont stress.. It does say eec-IV..
The I is very close to the V... It is correct. The main reason I can tell (cos I have one) also see the very small red sticker on the top of the air box and on the top of the MAF.. Mine has this also.. Must be a sprint thing..
Make sure the engine code is T not Z.
Make sure it has neapreen bushes in it.
It has the sprint manifold / MAF /engine cover. They are visibly different...
The battery snorkel is a sprint thing in ED's
It should also have a power stearing cooler (on the left side infront of the radiator. it stands verticly and is bolted to the radiator support panel. I can just see the bolts for it.
Needs to have the 5500 redline tacho. All others are 5000
It should have the sprint rim in the boot... (mine did not... shy)..
The brake fluid res is pink = Another sprint thing..
It has a pinky red clutch cable... = Sprint....

From what I can see.. I see no reason why this would not be genuine. It still has the stickers on the front radiator support re timing etc. You cant get these so it has not been biffed in the front.. It has the stickers in the boot lid suggesting it has not been biffed in the back..
Happy buying...

If you have a look at it, have a look at the door handles. They may be a slightly different shade of blue. This was a common thing on the cobolt blue cars. The colour on the plastic handles faded and the paint on the car did not. Given this has only 97000ks on it this should not be a issue.

PM me if you want more info.

thanks alot guys! my mind is now completely at ease... xr8chic, when i asked about the airbox, i meant am *I* a hack for thinking its a V... i've spoken to the seller, and i'm really happy with how the car sounds and has been treated. I'm more determined then ever to get the car now, so sorry xr8chic!!
bdennis, i know about the handles, my cobalt blue fairmont has a chronic case of "faded handle"...
also battery snorkel isn't just a sprint thing, battery in my fairmont is boxed and with a snorkel identical to the sprints.
and yeah modifying it is definately not a mention on my list of priorities. about the only "modification" i'd think of is a car alarm, but i dont think ill ever leave it anywhere unsafe anyway so its moot point.
i think the drive back from sydney when/if (i dont want to say if) i fly up to get it will be the most exciting time of my life.. again thanks alot for all your help, if all goes well in a week so or you'll be reading a thread titled "I HAVE A SPRINT!!!" :D
