The 4sp BTR s**t me to tears, and I dont think I want to ruin the LTD luxury and install a manual... so I was wondering if it would be plausable to install the 6sp in the AU.

Is it at all possible??

Yes it is plausible.
The bellhousing pattern is very similar... check my old 6.8 Modular post.
The main problem will be communication between the 6spd TCU which is part of the valve body and your EECV.

Another pissabolity is the 5R55S. Same modular pattern but may soon have a std alone controller available from the likes of TCI or Baumann.
There's 4.6 3V late model stangs going 9's with these gearboxes that are stock except for a converter!?

No I don't. Well there won't be any modular ones because, as you can see from my new post above there ain't no V8 available in new base falcons therefore no 5speed auto's!?! Pricks!!!!
You'd have to bring one in from the U.S.
BTW you could have had the whole running gear from my super pursuit...it was written off by a gook in a magna with no insurance!?!?!

Bugger. Back to the ZF it is.

I'll need to do some research on how the hell I can control the box.

Shame about the ute... It's quite tempting to bolt it all in, but I'm trying to keep the LTD standard *cough* :)

The 5R55E is the transmission thats fitted to the Explorer - Not the best transmission around.

It'd be a case of slide it in and see just like the AU.
Comms would still be the main issue.
A BF PCM conversion would fix that but that's a large job and probably not worth it.
Here's that bellhousing pattern comparasion...

Would the starter position be an issue?

Oh, and screw the BF PCM :P I thought of it and crossed it out immediately.
