I know there is lots of questions on here about this but,

We're thinking of putting a 3.9ohc into a XE, running a holley carb.
I was wondering if the XE auto will bolt up to the 3.9?
Alot of the speedway guys over here run these engine's in there Stock Cars, with a good cam, holley and a set of headers should be a little different, not going for huge hp just a budget cruiser.

Any info would be great,
Thankx

It is quite possible but it will require some other gear. You will need XG Engine Mounts and front swaybar. The Gearbox wont boltup so you will need a new bellhouing made up (Or you could dropa a T5 in it). And you should really go a 4lt engine because the 3.9 is a hunk of poo.

You dont need XG mounts, Just use the 3.9/4.0 ones

As for the gearbox, a EA 3 speed box would be the easiest if you want to stay auto (I think your XE box will bolt up to the same bellhousing).

Cheers Guys!

We're using the 3.9 because it free! this is a budget build of things we have lying around, i have a 4lt as well but am putting it in my EA which is where the 3.9 is coming from.
The XE is going to be a crusier and i'm hoping that the 3.9 is going to be better than the tired old 4.1, long as it's not to much to change!

Will do some measuring etc and see how things go.

Thanks

As the other guy said you have to use Xg engine mounts, raidiator and you also have to cut a bit of the lower cross member away so the altinator will fit in and not hit the crossmember. the are quiet a few parts that you will need.cheers

Why do you have to use XG mounts?

I have spoken to people who have done the conversion and they have told me they used the 4.0 mounts. I even measured them up and apart from the bolt spacing on the block the 3.9 and 250 mounts are identical.

I have an EF motor in mine and used the EA mounts, with one XF rubber mount and one EA rubber mount. You do need to use an XG SWAYBAR though.....

Both sedans, both manual, both fast! The xfs quicker tho; one day I'll even take em down the strip :P
