Is your XF EFI? If it is then just take the dipstick out and the oil cap off. There would be that much of a vaccum leak they would never get it started.

But would you go to so much effort, in say a shopping carpark??
At home yes it may be worth it. But i mean simpler methods like what has been said with the club locks etc are a better option.

Not to be rude or anything, but is your XF an 'attractive' steal? big stereo? lotsa power? mint condition?

If not, then it's not gonna get stolen.

And if it's EFI, you could install a kill switch on the power to the ECU, that'll stop it running.

solex locks IMO arent worth a pinch of s**t..... they're harder to pick, sure, but all you need is a screwdriver and enough force to rip them out of the door....

use a fork in the back door and it'll open.
i seen a fella do it when he locked the keys in a car at dads work. It took him a whole 10 seconds.

You could cut into the wiring of the coil and disable it.

Just be careful..

The very next day after I had an aftermarket alarm fitted, some idiot decided it'd be fun to kick in the rear passenger quarter panel.

If its on gas you can wire up a switch to pump both gas and petrol, it will flood and they will never start it.

Fit a fuel cut off valve to the carby, When it is stopped just rotate the valve and it will start and run for about 30 secs before it stalls and wont start again. Get a battery isolation switch fitted to the boot. Then when parked, remove the key and there is no power to start it. Install a quality alarm, and mount the siren somewhere under the dash, this will deafen them when they get into it. If it is an auto, hook up a hidden switch so to the park selector thing(you know it only starts in P or N) and make the signal show that it is always in gear so it wont start. Fit a line loc to all four wheels that when activated stops the car from moving. Just my thoughts of the top of my head.
Brett

Cool, now I know how to steal the TerroristGHIA. Thanks Brett.

My post above, if people didn't get it was, too much security and people will think that it's WORTH stealing. ie. you go from being a deterrant, to being an attractive proposition.

You could always do a Mr Bean and put the steering wheel in your bag when you go on a picnic or something LOL, making the car rendered useless.

I reckon have a cut off switch for the petrol,
all black wiring for the alarm,
thr3e clublocks,
ignition cover, like a metal collar over the ignition that can be taken off with a key,
LEDs that flash brightly and can be seen for up to 50 metres,
dark tinted windows - try 3M as this can strengthen your windows too.
door snipper buttons made silent or absent,
if you have got an aftermarket stereo, get the head unit and all other components eg, amplifier, 6 x 9s engraved with your driver's licence number and put Neighborhood Watch stickers on them,
Don't display stickers stating you have an alarm, as some car theives can work around certain types of after market alarms.
and put a big old pit bull in there, just for good measure.

Remember he likes canned dog food and clean drinking water LOL........

Or just call "Carsafe" and get an Australian Standards immoboliser/alarm for $200.
