hey modders, im looking at making the change to an XF or if i cant find one an XE or XD. i will be getting the 6 cyl as i am still on my p's and NSW dont let p platers drive 8's. also i am planning on getting the sedan.

Now to avoid getting shafted i was hoping you guys could offer me advice on what to look for what to avoid. also i am planning on getting the sedan.

Also i have heard that the LPG on XF's is not worth it as you use twice as much and get less power than petrol, can anyone confirm this for me?

thanks guys,
Jake

i know they are old, but i would like one. maybe i wont keep the engine, maybe i will. im just trying to get some constructive advice, e.g. some reasons why they arent good to get, and if they arent, then maybe a suggestion of an alternative.

to be completely honest with you, the EF is a much superior car in the safety
department - if i were to find out that you were injured driving your XF i don't
think you could comprehend how bad i would feel - as part of the fordmods
community i feel that you are part of my family now and so i don't want anything
bad to happen to you :)
so the best alternative i guess is an EF at this stage :)

ok cheers for that. the problem with my EF is the engine electronics are on the way out, e.g. looking at a full replacement as the car wont decide if its going to start each day or if im going to have to fiddle with s**t and pray for half an hour before it works. kind of embarrasing in front of mates, and girls, and also a pain in the a***. the auto electrician said upwards of a grand minimum when i told him about the problem. so seeing as i bought my car for 2 grand im not to keen to go spending that again. also its leaking oil, the power steering pump is f**k for the second time and leaking onto the alternator. and i want a manual car again hahaha.

sorry for the essay lol

most likely the BEM if not it'd be ECU - easy to replace - go to the wreckers should be able to get a pair for $100 with change!
if not try find a manual EF atleast :)
I don't really want you driving round in a car without airbags, as airbags do save lives and at your
age you're likely to make mistakes :) i want to be able to share a beer with you at your 40th with
you smiling back at me thanking me for this advice :) :)

Yeah, but I don't think bouncy air suspension is going to help your safety.

Check for rust if it doesnt have rust itl have bog lol. Just keep the ef, and your problem shouldnt be 1000 bucks to replace as mentioned it could be the ecu or bem, ef would go better than the xf anyway
