First of all welcome to FordMods.
If you need a mechanic to do the work for you it is going to cost you big bucks. Perhaps you should go and buy yourself a workshop manual and read. This may not give you the knowledge to rebuild an engine, but at least when you talk to the mechanic you will understand what he/she is talking about ( and if he/she is full of s**t). And don't listen to "MATES" that think they know about cars unless the have a proven track record as it can cost you BIG TIME.
Most all the information you need can be found on this web site either by using the "SEARCH" or the Technical Docs up the top of every web page.

Hope this gets you started

year thanks heaps guys, feelin very welcomed. first of all I have not much mechanical experience but still a lil. My ford xg s pac, is a great car and at the moment i am more leaning towards a straight cut dumped on the a** XR6 LOOK with maby with xr6 upgrdades, such as headlights hard covrer tray and interior with an aux remote starter and custom seat, thats all in the future projects in wihich i can do as my self. but i really need a good mechanic at the moment who can put more power in the girl for a reasonalble price as i am already budgeting 2 - 3 g for just the engine, and eventully in years to come bang a 5.litre v8 in there which i am eventully gonna take on. biggest things on my agender at the mo tho is moby goin for bigger dif LSD, and engine work such as extractor, injectors, but i know a man with the equipment to do the right job, or if that would be the right choice.
thanxs guys by the way balwyn is in VIC, melbourne around the box hill, and Richmond suburbs.

You should go for the 5L straight up rarther then spending money on motor that your gunna get rid of, you should be able to pick up a 5L out of wreck for like $2500 - $3000 and you driveline should be able to cope with it bareing that you drive to it

There was an AU xr8 engine complete with ecu, trans and everything else get sold on EBay last week for 1500 bucks.....and it was in Melbourne!
Keep your eyes open for a deal like that rather than sinking a heap of dough into a six, that to be honest, is never gunna go as good as n 8!

Problem with going the 8 in the xg is it will need to be checked over to be roadworthy as XG's never came out with 8's. I think thats right anyways :)

You should just do up the 6. Its a 94 so im presuming 4.0l??.

If you go into the 6 cyclinder section and have a read through the sticky on moding the 6's youll find heaps of info.

Start with extractors and exhaust and work from there. Fuel pump and injectors wont need to be touched for a long time.

If you have an auto id suggest 3.45 lsd. If you have a manual go 3.7.
Or do a manual conversion ;)

Cheers

It depends on your price and how much work you want to do to fit it.

You wont find sportsbars at the wreckers, i suggest either buying them new off the shelf or watch the trading post and ebay. Extractors can be found new pretty cheap on ebay as well.

As for the uhf well ive got mine jamed in between my dash and console. No screws or anything, sits there nice and snug. And my airial is mount on the trim that runs along my rear quater window

I hope you have good batteries for the light on your miners helmet? Have a look how deep you just dug. Over ten months since the last post in this thread.
