Hey guys just wondering how do you change a fuel pump in a 1986 ford xf fairmont ghia straight 6 efi sedan ?

i know the cap is in the boot and you undo the 6 screws but i cant seem to get it out ???

yeah so you found the inspection/cover plate on the boot floor and undid some screws....now pry it off as its stuck down with a sicky foam tape.

Then disconnect as required. The pump comes out as an assembly and has a threaded plastic ring which you have to undo.

Once you pull the assembly out, then you can replace the pump. NOTE CAREFULLLY WHICH WIRES ARE POS/NEG. Mark with a texta if you have to.

Its not a hard job.

Pull efi fuse out first and then run out of fuel to release the fuel pressure.
