hey all i have an xf sedan with gt 12 slots 14/8in wide rims on it im after some new tyres what would you suggest iv come across the bf goodrich ones with the white writing on them they look nice and the yokohama radial 352 could anyone plz tell me what they would suggest now i live in tasmania and drive in the wet a bit so traction would be good thanks

I would go for the yokia C.Drive personally, but am unsure if they are avaliable in the size you require. The BF Goodrich tyres would suit and have a proven history, I think they have just apdated the tyre compound as well to a silica based compound.
I would go for them as I think they suit both period wise and think they are a good tyre. I would nowmally suggest the Yokies, but the eagers are a good thing to.

yeah thanks for the post big help the c.drives dont fit they only go to 195/--- as im looking for more 225/60 along those lines but i think i will go the bf's as yes they have a good name and look nice on my car so thanks for the help

You should be able to fit a 245 tyre on the back of the XF on an 8" wide rim, but stick to a 225 on the front. X-series look like sh!t with a big tyre on the front.
You may even be able to get a 265 under the back, depending on the offset of your rims, ride height, etc. I had an XD sesan with 15" 12 slotters, 15x7 on the front with 225's, and 15x9 on the back with 265's under the guards. But the rear rims were special order to get the right offset. Looked tuff, sat low, and cornered like a cat on carpet. Exept when it rained, and I had to do the BF/GTA shuffle. Those things were dangerous in the wet! Good luck finding a decent tyre in a 14" diameter, not a lot around anymore. You wont have a lot of choices.

A 225 tyre will look funny on an 8" rim.....may not even fit. I think minium tyre for an 8" is the 235.
Its better to have the same size tyre front and rear for rotating purposes. Bridgestone make SF 340 Eagers in 235/60R14........not cheap though.

cjh thanks for the help i like this idea 235's all round will be good the eagars have a good name and look nice so that will be ok im not to worryed about the price as long as i get what im paying for and there worth it and they seem ok so that will be good thanks again

235/60x14 is the best fit on the 8 inch rim, Eagers are a bloody good tyre also.

time for a wheel upgrade........ like mentioned, choice is very limited for wider tyres in training wheel size, and if you find one, you will pay through the nose
for example, a 235/60/14 might be $250 each, but you can get a 245/50/16 for $130.... |

Yeah thanks mate for the help im not to worryed about the price around $250 bucks is alot of money for a tyre but its what im looking for at this moment of time but ill go these for now the 235/60/14 but when there comming to the time of replacing im looking at the ba-bf gtp rims ( pre au ) i have found them for about $1750 - $1900 in a wheel and tyre package and them i really like as my xf is very similer to streetfords coty xf0747 with many things so ill be looking into them when the time comes and i have that amount of money as i will need to do my suspension hight again for the 18in

The last time I got a tyre, Eager SF340 235/60R15, it was $265.

If you are after the retro or of it's day look, then get some XF Ghia rims (15x7) and fit either 225/60x15's or 245/50x15's.
Or your $1000 budget could cover a set of 16's with near new or new tyre's Or you could go on Ebay and get some new 18' with cheap n nasty tyres. my current favorite tyre is the Bridgestone Adrenalin. http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/tre ... nalin.aspx Bloody great tyre's. I have the 235/45x17's on my EF. The grip wet or dry is fantastic.

i got cheap dunlop bluestreek gt on me wagon and there good enough for a p platers car even in t wet state of tassie and m8 get an el lol

ohh! yeah thanks josh for all your awesome help lol i might just get so 6 in wide rims with 175 on there lol and give them to you so your claped out old ea will do a cook haha lol only joking mate shes all good but forget about the el for now ill stick to the xf
