Both of my XH utes had 3.23:1 rear axles in them. The XR's will probably have a 3.45:1. Some sedans had a 3.0?, but I couldnt tell which ones. The 3.23 works out at approx 2000rpm @ 110-odd k's. I used to get 600ks to a tank on the highway with those gears.....

i get 9L per 100 highway km's in my AU with 3.45's

and was getting 9.8L per 100 highway km's in my EF with 4.11's

changing the diff ratio wont help at all in my opinion

My EF Gli sedan, has 3.08, and when it was auto and a stocker, it would be pretty much idling at 100kmh, was brilliant of the fuel and gas on long trips, not so much any more :D

No they didnt. They had a 3.23 LSD, 6cyls had a 3.45.
Futuras got a 3.23, as did fairmonts, gli's 3.08.

I get 7 odd L/100ks with a manual and 3.45s, sits on about 2200rpm @100ks. Stock EF or worked AU motor, doesnt make a difference on the highway.

XFs had a 2.92 or a 2.77 in ltd's of the same era.

from eb2 on everything went to 3.23 and xr'6's 3.45
