Some of you may have read the posts about me and fraser (uglybob) looking at an XB GT. Unfortunately it didnt turn out to be quite as good as this, but an XC Falcon instead-stilll the 351, 4 speed as before, but different hot body which is just begging for the cobra paint job.

I went to take some photos of it so I could ask you guys about it. Owner wants $3500ish for it. There's a bit of rust here and there. It hasn't been run in a while but still works. Owner wants to get rid of it so there is good bargaining power. Interior could be better but is still functional. Gauges are fine and the front headlights are all still in good nick. In obvious need of a paint job, and I'd be leaning towards the white with blue stripes of the cobra.

After some muscle work from the girlfriend, (cos i dont have any) we discovered reverse, which means the gear box appears in working order.

So here are the photos (warning...about 30Mb in total)

Also, this isn't intending to be an everyday use car. This is something to put in the garage and bring out for special occasions.

cheers fellas.

and his stunning girlfriend who engineered this whole project and provided all facilities including the source of the vehicle (she typed this)

honestly, for $3500 its still a damn good deal, it's a complete, 351 hardtop with a 4 speed manual....
it's gonna need some serious rust removal, but *meh* a lot of the old girls do

is it an original 351/4 speed?

As an "in the garage project car" that you don't mind spending $$$ and a year or so restoring, it'd be great! If I had the time/space/money, I'd love an XC.

Nice ugg boots by the way ;-)

a year is optimistic IMO...... a LOT of time, money and late nights are easily spent on restoring a car..... a friend of mine has a 1969 mustang that's been on the go for at least 7 years

Really? I kinda liked the mags for the car....obviously wouldn't put them on my car. Also has 265 tyres all round with good tread on them all.

Hmmm... where's the worst of the rust at and how bad is it?? If its just suface/superficial then $3500 is a great price.... assuming you'll fix yourself.

My mechanic flogged off his XA hardtop (JG dealer special) for about $3k but the 351 had been put in there to replace the 302 and it was showing signs of terminal rust....

All the rust I found is in the photos. So I reckon most of it is just surface rust. I'd love for someone with a bit more experience to come down and have a look at it with me.

xc's are mad i used to have one. is the engine stock. Its a shame bout the painted chrome. If you have the time space and money i would get it for sure there geting rarer and rarer. my future plan is to get an xc and put a big block in it, oh yeah.

Pretty sure its a 1976...although it could also be 78, both of those are ringing a bell.

Was there any difference?
