Im restoring a 351 XC GXL back to rock stock factory spec (apart from the motor).
What id like to know from people out there is about some of the differences ive seen in GXLs. 1st of all is the black out job gloss or matt , ive seen both and ive also seen GXLs with XB GT style paint work in black and silver, could be aftermarket jobs but who knows with the way ford were bolting things together at that time. Also any1 with pics of an origional GXL engine bay would be great.

from memory the scoops on the bonnet were gloss, but the window surrounds were a matt finish. my old gxl series one only had the black on the scoops, around the windows, between the tail lights and under the doors, everything else was body colour. unfortunatly cant help with the underbonnet pics as all my pics went missing, but from memory, wasnt much different to the standard falcon.

What about the bumpers i have seen some with colour coded bumpers and some with chrome.

bumpers were chrome with black overiders, but have seen chrome overiders, not sure if factory though.

What do you mean by series one. They only did one Model GXL. There wasnt a series. What you discribe is what all GXL black outs were.

What you discribe is what all GXL black outs were. from memory there was an update XC , went from grey grille to black grille |
