Gday my xf has a ECU conected to the dizzy and its a carby motor? iv been haveing problems with geting it to run right, idles a little ruf but i have tuned that down a bit but still isnt 100% and theres no power when you put your foot down it takes a bit to cut in!! iv got the timeing in a happy medium if i go a little either way it gets pre ignition idles like s**t or dont want to start propley! so what is wrong? would it be better with a vacume advance dizzy? or dose the carby need overhauling? i did do a basic gasket and main diaphram change but thats it. can anyone help?

That was the EST (electronic spark timing) dizzy. They were the next step along from the mech/vac advance dizzy's.
Sounds to me more like a carby problem though. These carby's had an auto choke on them which was known to bugger up. It's the green bit on the side of the carby. Take the air cleaner off and check if the auto choke is operating properly.
