Hi all :) I was wondering if anyone has done rack & pinion steering on x series? I tried fitting ea rack to my xf but tie rods were a bit to long thinking maybe shorten the tie rods. Info or pics will be great. Thanx to all will keep posted on progress. I would like to have the car finished by the end of the year. Hope to take it to next years summernats. :D

I have an EB rack I'd love to fit to my Coupe. Could you tell me how you mounted the rack on the chassis/k frame ??

Hi i have not fitted to the car yet! i'll be talking to a engineer to try and find the best way to fit the steering gear to the K frame hoping that it can be done. If that can be done i will still have the tie rods!! THINKING why the f**k bother! well i only want to do the car once & do it different. cheers.

Guaranteed fit would be an RRS rack and pinoin kit...for 2K...I`ve often thought about it myself, personally, I`d go for a VN/VP rack with Eseries tierods. I still would`nt know how to mount it though. all I got past was the basics on paper...load, alignment, and those sorta hypothetical obstacles. mounting it securely on the frame is a massive step in itself. please post up the progress...

I considered manufacturing two brackets, which bolted to the stardard steering bolts and the e-series rack (similar to the RRS one). It would work, however it may be pretty heavy.

I have rack and the ability to manufacture the brackets so I can't justify $2000 on the RRS unit. The whole "need an engineers certificate with steering/suspension mods" that is holding me up.

RRS is a company that specializes in steering and suspension componentry, namely custom replacement/relocation work...coil over kits for anything, racing brake set-ups, etc...

RRS- Racing Relocation Services...they have a kit to bolt a rack straight in to XD/E/F...the steering knuckle will set you back another $350-400 to complete the job

Very nice car. If I was going to that level of trouble, I would be looking at if it was possible to put a complete XH front suspension on it.
