well i got a XF ute for free this weekend.

Its a 250 carby motor with a 3 speed col shift.
It has done 230'000kms.

It still runs fairly well for its age. Motor is quite but really dirty.

There are a few problems that ill fi up. The rear tail light is totally rooted. The two front quater pannels have cancer on the top bad which has created a little problem under the hood. I talked to a guy that is very handly with a welder and metal and he said i drill out the spot welds and get cuts from the wreckers and he can weld them in.

There is a bit rip in the seats and the steering wheel is f**k but mechanically its ok.

I plan to fix all this up under a budget. I have 2 months of holidays to do it.

It came to me fairly dirty and discusting. I gave it a wash and a polish and it looks a million times better.

Ill get some photos soon as i have been shaped....tooomuch downloading.

G'day

STOP!!!!!!!!!

Before you get too far into this, pull the cover out from the floor and have a look under it, better still drop on the ground and look under the car.

If the rust is that bad in the areas where it should run off i'd hate to think how bad it is where the water cant escape.

My ute that i'm doing looked fine on the surface but underneath it was shagged, i have pictures coming.

The problem with these things is, ford put a foam pad underneath the fuel tank to stop it from rubbing and ratling while driving. However this foam holds water when the tray gets wet and it runs under the cover plate in the floor.

Just worth a look, i hope your good with a welder.

Cheers

it was the angle the car was sitting on when i got it... a sligh up hill.

I looked everywhere else and there was a tiny bit of cancer but really not that bad.
