Hi all,

New to the forum and need some help.

I have nearly finished putting my motor together and have come to the Ignition system setup

I would like some advice or recommendation on which MSD setup I should run (part numbers etc.)

The engine would fall into the mild to race category. (Tuned Headers,Big cam manifold etc.)

Thanks in advance :D

Welcome, What are you going to use the car for, what is the compression ratio and what fuel do you intend to run it on. Regards TPVM.

Thanks for the quick reply.

2 cut a long story short I got the car a couple of months ago from a bloke who got 3/4 through the rebuild and ran out of money, so I don't know comps and particulars about the setup. :(

I do know it is to run Premium Uld The engine has a big cam with long duration, curved flat top pistons, chevy valves, mexican windsor block(bigger water jackets),289 heads, new Holley 650double pump with mech sec. 289 torker manifold. (money has been spent you get my drift)...........

Does this help?

I would use the ICE system.....smaller control boxes for starters.

Stay away from AT Racing World. That is another trading name for Sydney Speed, also known as Pro-Comp. It is crap, avoid it at all costs.

Save up and get an MSD or Crane distributor. Money well spent, IMHO.

If wanting MSD ide go the 6AL this is the most common set up for your type of aplication,
if you plan on running nos or the like and need to have programable retard wich in that cas you need something like 7AL+
