Yep,
She's runnin good thanks wobbo.
I still haven't switched to EDIS but I may do soon because it's seems to have developed an intermittant ignition problem...the Hi-6 is about 10 years old now.
I've put my LPG system back on it too. Stopped past the dyno on saturday so we spun it up just to adjust the gas system because it still had the same settings from the previous cleveland engine. It had blown the aircleaner and inlet tubing off it a few times with the ignition problem whilst on gas.
Did a power run on petrol and made a peak of 261hp @ 4800. and torque is flat from right down low to 4500rpm. At a glance it's averaging over 300 engine hp from 2000 to 5000rpm but I'll post the actual average soon. It's a little rich at 12:1 up high but it's pretty good since I've only guessed at a calibration since I built it.
Took it down the track a while back and got a 14.00 @ 102mph. Pretty good considering the weight and the f**k toploader taking about 1/2 a second to shift!? On one run I missed 3rd completely, f**k around trying to get into gear and still ran a 14.2! Some 3.00 or 3.25's should help it go into the 13's as it's slowing at 3/4 track and pulling over 5 grand across the line which of course is too much for this engine.

Cheers,
Pete.

Righto,

Here's some average figures using 4.9 EF Futura and data-mine' excell spreadsheet...Thanks Lads.
I only used 6 data points from the start of the run(2000rpm) to where the power dropped off at the top of the run(5000rpm)to get these results;
Average Rwkw 154.73
Average Rwhp 207.5
Assuming a 30% drivetrain loss the flywheel figures came out to what looks like a rather optimistic result of;
Average Fwkw 221.04
Average Fwhp 296.43
Average Fwtq 465.93 ft/lb
Average Fwtq 631.72 Nm
I say optimistic because it suggests 373 fwhp at the peak of 4800 which I seriously doubt. 340hp yes, 373 no.

Pete.

Gday bud, got referred to this from another forum, first off sounds like a pretty decent setup good luck with it, second and more important was wondering if you could go through what you have done as in parts used and work done.

I ask because I have a 351W that came out of my old XF work ute, got written off earlier this year, anyhow after seeing the blower on it you have inspired me hehe so I am looking at similar setup in an early model, possibly even a muzzi. Need to sell the AU XR6 ute first coz I don't have the room what with the 2 cars now and a tow truck, but am looking at possible builds and you saying that you built it with a blower in mind at a later stage got me interested in your setup.

Thanks in advance
Stef

G'day Stef,

This whole article sort of goes through what I have done and the parts used. Did you want a total list of parts or something?

Cheers,
Pete.

Ye interested in what bits you put in, especially after i saw the blower I thouhg tthat would look very neat under a Muzzi bonnet or early Falcon with the injection manifold setup. If it's easier you can email but probly easier in here I guess, I did try to read it all but I think it would be easier for everyone if you put a list of bits and mods in the one post lol.

Thanks
Stef

Any long term evaluation results Pete? Have been watching the ute's progress for a long time and have a similar setup in a XC.

Nope, Sold the ute and the engine is going into an EB. I'll continue on when we put the engine into that. At the moment I'm fighting with comp over their poxy cams that can't handle the dizzy gears that they themselves tell you to use!?!
I have replaced the ute with an XG van with an EL 4.0 in it. Watch this space....Ive had it up to here(touching the ceiling) with the poxy six cylinder so you may find I'll be talking about World 400+ cube crate with the CHI heads off my Cleveland going in there along with a Lentech 4R70W. icon_wink.gif

Give us some details of your XC while were on the subject?

Cheers,
Pete.

Yes. Most of what I have mentioned applies to yours too.
I can help you with a crank encoder wheel when the time comes.
You will have(much)more trouble with bonnet clearance.
AU front engine dress will require a different approach because of the AU 5.0L integral pulley/Balancer issues mentioned in the article...you may need a custom crank pulley and/or depth changes to the bracketry.
AU EEC/harness etc will all work and of course you'll need to make your own 351 type Cam encoder.

Pete.

Hi xr9
i have done a 5l conversion into an xg , was just curious what model hoses you used for your top and bottom radiator hoses. i used standard eb ones with my xg radiator, appears to be a very messy setup at the moment with the header tank

i am keen to return to standard xf type radiator without the header tank and be able to fill the radiator directly.

Hi Jason,
I used std Cleveland hoses. ie; Top XA-XB type without the angled water neck.
The bottom hose was XE/ZK cleveland I think.
