This document describes how to add the AU series XR8 Intake snorkel to the EF and EL 6 Cylinder Models. Unfortunately, this modification is not suitable for V8 Models, as the Snorkel does not clear the engine. This modification costs a total of $32.00 (+ $10 postage anywhere in Australia - Available from FERNTREE GULLY AUTO SALVAGE), and takes approximately 10 Minutes to fit The XR8 Snorkel itself has a throat diameter of roughly twice that of the standard Snorkel fitted to EF's, as well as larger snorkel opening.
Snorkel Fitment
The Snorkel Part number is TAUTVE-9A624A Also, you will require a 3mm drill bit, and a drill to relocate the Original Snorkel screws. Please Note : The snorkel requires some trimming in order for it to sit flush with the metal lip on the engine bay. In order to find the correct amount to trim,
1) Remove the Original Snorkel, by removing the 2 retaining screws, and twisting the snorkel away from the Airbox.
2) Fit the new AU XR8 snorkel to the Airbox, and mark the area that overlaps the metal lip.
3) Whilst the snorkel is fitted, mark 2 holes where the snorkel mounting screws are to be placed
3) Cut the area of the snorkel using quality scissors, or a hobby / Stanley knife.
4) Drill the 2 marked holes using the 3mm Drill bit, and taking care that you do not pierce the Radiator below.
5) Fit the snorkel, and the 2 retaining screws in their new location
