Ok went looking some fairlane ghia V8's, 1 was 13k, not to impressed was dirty and stuff
went to this private sale, i rekon i might be able to pull it for $11,500.
10/97 Fairlane Ghia, leather (good cond) , silver. 193,500 on the clock, all from origional owner.
would this be a good buy in your opinions? the 193,500k's was sorta in my mind, but then again everyone says thats a baby windsor.
Opinions please
oh, and it didnt have the "5.0 Litre V8" badge on the side? did they all come with that? |

The 6cylinders dont have the V8 badge on the side... If it is a V8 Fairlane I would go looking for evidence of a front end collision. My own NL V8 Fairlane Ghia has done over 550000kms on the original motor. It gets regular services at 5000kms, genuine Motorcraft oilfilters and penrite oil. My car blows no smoke and although it is down in power compared to others - still manages to "walk" other V8 Falcons.

i was thinking the badge coulda been knocked off, it apparantly has heavy duty springs in it, they were yellow
couldnt see any evidence of any collision, i took it for a drive, and had a look under the hood looked alright, dont have a large v8 experience tho
the body looked perfect all matched
shoulda grabbed some photos while i was there, didnt think
oh and anyone got any ideas on lines i can use to convince parents to let me get it?
atm i drive a 94 honda accord 4 cylinder...
ive tryed the fuel economy isnt that much worse, seemed a no go
the accord has 134,000k's on it
and suggestions?
"Dad you do realise if you dont say yes this will result in weeks and weeks of... 'Dad can i have a v8 fairlane, Dad can i have a v8 fairlane, Dad can i have a v8 fairlane, Dad can i have a v8 fairlane, Dad can i have a v8 fairlane'"

if dad has the money SUCK HARD
if dad doesnt ,then tell him where to go.
the fairlane will last s**t loads longer the the rice youve got, give it another 30k and u will have fried rice
yeah a bit lame
i reckon shop harder hey ,my old man picked up a '94 fairlane with 130000k's on it for $12000 4 years ago,so i reckon you will be able to find one for the amount your willing to spend with alot less k's on the clock.
cheers |

The best way to surpass your dad is to explain that the Fairlane is a luxury car compared to yours with more space. Just tip in there somwhere that the 5.0 NL is P plate approved in the eastern states because of it's power to weight ratio.
Next approach is to start pulling adds on turbo ricers (noting aftermarket turbo's and intercoolers in front of him) and when he starts thinking you are going to kill yourself in a little ricer explain that the V8 has less power and more room and safety factors in an accident should something go wrong.
