hey guys, got myself a 4WD on thursday.
the circumstances in which i got it arent the best... it was my grandfathers car, and he passed away last monday so my grandmother passed it onto me.
its a 1991 Nissan GQ Patrol Ti.
4.2L Diesel, 5 speed. its got extractors and a 2 1/2'' exhaust, sounds mean as.
got all the creature comforts, velour seats, power windows, sunroof, central locking, UHF, etc etc.
its black over silver
i'll put up some pics tomorrow when ive given it a good clean.

Sorry to hear of the passing of your grandfather.
I reckon the best way to honer him would be to put a XR6T motor in that sucker. |

Ah, give it time. Ask Dazzel about his Maverick (there the same as the Patrol).
I got my grandmothers Sigma when i was fifteen. I still wish i had that bugger. Would have a 302 in it by now i reckon. A beige 302 power station wagon. ha classic sleeper. |

Keep the deisel, just whack a turbo on it. They are more waterproof than falcon motors and last forever.
Get some pics up.
Any plans to modify it at all? |

What that needs is a lift kit + 44" tyres, and a bigger bull-bar.
Thusly....

Hey,
I was very sad when my grandparents passed, but i did score some money. You've scored a bloody nice 4by there. Mines only a SWB.
Like Dan said, throw a turbo on it, and go the decent sound system.
Cheers

are the turbos on these draw through or blow through turbos? i dont want to lose my extractors lol
what would be a rough guess as to what a turbo conversion would cost on one of these?
oh and by the way, the car has done 260,000km. |

oh, and i hope one of you guys can help me with a problem its got at the moment.
its temperamental, it usually does it just after start up, drive for a bit, put the clutch in, revs will drop to around 200rpm... boot it, revs go up slowwwwly, let accelerator off, it stalls. then takes about 5 seconds to start again.
thats one. the other is:
driving along, accelerate, and nothing. it surges, coughs and pops, then usually turns into problem 1 ^.
it had the tanks removed and cleaned, and fuel lines replaced, and im gonna put in a new fuel filter tomorrow ($40!!!!!!! ) and see if that makes a difference.
its almost like its being starved of fuel. it cant be the injector pump cos that was very recently rebuilt.
anyone be able to shed some light on this?
im planning to do a bit of offroading this weekend, nothing serious but, but i still want to get this fixed before i go.
cheers |

Dude, by the look of this ride, yr gran really loved it.
Yr prob. could be the fuel pump itself, check that once you've replaced the filter.
Congrats |

Blow through or draw doesnt effect how the turbo is mounted.
Your extractors will have to come off.
A new turbo kit is like $3k for everything you need.
It would be cheaper 2nd hand or if you put everything together yourself which wouldnt be hard.
A new cast manifold is like $400, throw on a T3 turbo from a skyline or something, plumb it up and away you go. |
