1. Pull cluster out
2. Remove the screws on the back of the cluster to remove the clear front facia.

3. Gently lever speedo needle off with fork, sliding the fork under and carefully lifting upwards.Place your other hand on top of the fork so as to prevent the needle "flying" off or damaging anything.
4. Remove the 2 screws from the cluster face, and remove black insert. Try not to put fingerprints on the back insert, hold by edges.(No need to do tacho side) Also remove the warning light strip and the hard clear cover and felt ring over the odometer.
It is a good time to check for blown warning light bulbs also.

5. Turn the cluster back over, and remove the 4 screws holding the odometer in place. Also unplug the little plugs.

6. The odometer will come out in one unit now.

7. On one side there is a board, remove the two screws.

8. Gently lift the board upwards and it will come away from the odometer, but will still be connected by two wires. (This was an old speedo so I have removed the cog long ago)

9. The cog will be positioned on a lug, remove the old, and in with the new.Smear a little vasoline on the new cog.

10. Replace everything, remembering to plug the plugs back in, and there you go.

This DIY was originally wriiten by Fordchic from Australian Ford Forums but I have added a few things and felt it should be a doco in the tech forum.Thanks.
