I ve heard that they are longer than the original t5's in the xf, is this true? If so do i just have to move the gearbox support crossmember back. Will the shifter fit in the same hole as the current box. What about the tail shaft, does it have to be shortened? Interals are a lot different. Here have a look see. http://www.moderndriveline.com/Technical_Bits/t5_history.htm They used world class T5's in the XFs as they where only introduced in 87'. The yokes are different to the autos, but the length is the same.
