|
|
Hi guys,
got an AU2 ute at work at the moment and have to replace the BEM due to a problem with the instrument cluster.
Got the replacement BEM thru Injectronics and went to fit it today. Thats where the fun began. The instructions were telling me that I have to go to a Ford dealer to have the keys programmed to it and that I need 2 keys to do this. The owner only has one key. I went to a dealership and they couldnt make it work either, and they seemed a little confused about it all.
What do I need to do to make this replacement BEM work?? |

the keys are electronically trained to the bem, and as a security feature you cannot code 1 key, thus the requirement for 2 keys.
Also, what instrument cluster issue on an AU would require a new bem? |

Intermittantly all the gauges drop out, speedo, tach, fuel and temp gauges.
If there's only one key, can the replacement BEM be made to work at all? |

Rang around a couple of contacts from my days at Ford and got some more info.
Yes, we need 2 keys, but they only have to be cut to suit the lock barrel.
OK, got a new key and got it cut to suit.
Fitted the new BEM and tried again (at the dealership).
Cleared the PCM parameters so it could recognise the new BEM, all good.
Tried to relearn the keys to the BEM, no go!
The Ford IDS tool will not communicate with the BEM, I reckon we got a bodgy one!!
Rang the supplier and have organised a replacement BEM. Will try again when that shows up.
Getting sick of this BS!!! |
