Can anyone tell me how many of these were made, stumbled across one for sale yesterday(not telling the $ as it is not yet on the market). The owner told me it was the only 1 with a 5.6. If so i will be adding it to the stable

3, saw one on the way back from Sydney yesterday after a trip enquiring about another very rare Tickford vehicle, which will soon be added to my stable, hehe

Rare and bloody awesome cars. There was T2 TL50 at the aufalcon.com dyno day made over 150rwkw hitting the speed limiter so it was capable of more for sure.

There was only 3 made; one was owned by Craig Lowndes for some time, but apparently Ford took the car back off him..

I'd kill for one of thes cars, seriously, 3 made, looks, performance; not many people have seen these cars either.

If you can get some pics that'd be cool, but come on - give us a slight idea on price hehe, you know you wanna!

On another note when i was looking for the FBT I seen a TL50 not sure 1/2, wasnt 3, but it was low kms and was selling for 28k, very good news for me and others looking in the future! icon_idea.gif

It was in qld and was an ex company car.
I was happy with my pick up, orig fbt in excelent condit, low kms for 17k, insurance market value is still like 26k for the fbt, laughing.
I know i want a TL5o cheap of course, but i dont want one in s**t condit, which this one wasnt in the best, few lil things i noticed.
Seen another TL50 II for 35k at same time, so go figure.

im happy with my car, looks sexy, sounds sexy, goes well and not many people know wtf it is!

The TL is actually based on the fairlane, where the TE & TS are based on the AU but like you say thank god they don't look like a stock one. The last Ford we wanted was an AU but there is deffinantly not much of a comparrison between the two icon_biggrin.gif

Quote:
AU TL50: Windsor 5-litre V8, OHV, electronic multi-point fuel injection, 9.00:1 compression, Explorer crossflow heads, roller rockers, special camshaft, cold air intake, low restriction twin exhaust system, 200kW @5000rpm, 420Nm @ 3750rpm (net)

Quote:
AUII TL50(Oct 2000-April 2001): SVO alloy heads with larger valves and ports, 70 mm throttle body, oil cooler, special camshaft, 220 kW@5250rpm, 435Nm@4,000rpm

Interesting how AUII had alloys heads until May 2001 then went back to cast iron with the same output.

Quote:
AUII TL50(April-May 2001 on): 9.4:1 compression, reworked Explorer GT40P cast iron crossflow heads, match-ported inlet manifolds, upgraded fuel pressure regulator, 220 kW@5250rpm, 435Nm@4,000rpm.

Quite a few questions have been asked about those Alloy GT40X's and the GT40P's for exacty this reason - both here and the US. The GT40P's flowed just as well and being the last true upgrade by Ford on the Windor head - they are pretty efficient. Peak flow numbers dont mean much - you need to look at the whole flow graph (no good having a had that flows X @ .600" lift if the cam only has .500" lift). The P's are just about spot on with the GT40X's.
The engine only uses a certain amount of air per revolution so if the head is much bigger than the motor needs - you won't see any significant improvement. (Think Boss 302)

The TL50 is still an AU, just because its a Fairlane doesnt mean its an AU lol..
Many call them "NU/DU" but its still AU, same as my FBT is still EL.
Either way, best looking ford during the AU era hey, sexy.

It is true, only 3 T3 TL50's were built. Only 12 T2Tl50's were built as well. Not sure now many T1's there were.
